Challenged by the International Fabio Fan Club to write a story about a woman stuck in the 2006 blizzards back East getting hugs from their fav cover model, I said yes, but he has to be a vampire! And so he was! Prompted along, I had 55,000 words without thinking and a nasty piece of work for the villain. And yes, Fabio is the body-model. It even features his big Ford pick-up truck and his sexy new toy.
Do I know snow storms? I grew up in Connecticut. 'Nuff said.
You might question the scene where the heroine, lost in the blizzard and ill-equipped in a light-weight rental car manages to hit black ice and spin into a snow drift, actually to the top of a snow drift. You may question the guys rolling laughing out of the house and putting the undamaged car back into the street. True Story. I was in a Renault Daphne (1200 lbs.) and I was almost 19.
